A Meaningful Celebration: Alex & Brittany’s Lakeside Wedding

Brittany and Alex’s story began at a North Carolina hospital, where Brittany was working as a respiratory therapist when Alex started his residency. Brittany’s sister had worked with Alex and was happy to play the role of matchmaker. When the couple met while working in the Trauma ICU, the groundwork had already been laid. They started dating soon after.

Alex decided the time was right to ask Brittany to marry him as they were preparing to move from North Carolina to Arkansas. He proposed on the front porch of their new home, just after their closing. With both of their families there to share the moment, Brittany answered with an enthusiastic “Yes!”

On the day of the wedding, guests arrived at Water’s Edge Country Club in Penhook, VA for a traditional ceremony, followed by cocktails and music by a string quartet before the reception.

The lakeside venue holds special memories for Brittany. Her parents spent their early years together vacationing at the lake, and her grandparents have a home there. Brittany brought Alex to the lake right after they started dating and it quickly became the couple’s favorite vacation spot.

The reception began with formal introductions. The wedding party made their grand entrance, then the couple, Mr. & Mrs. Alex and Brittany Gross. The newlyweds shared their first dance, followed by special dances for Brittany and her father, and Alex and his mother.

Brittany’s father, David Turner, gave the blessing before dinner, and Maid of Honor Lauren Harrell and Best Man Adam Boles made toasts to the newlyweds.

After the couple cut their cake, K2 Weddings DJ Larry got the guests onto the dance floor and kept the party going for the rest of the evening.

One of the night’s most touching tributes came during a special couples’ dance to “Endless Love” by Lionel Richie—the same song that Brittany’s parents danced to on their wedding day.

With K2 Weddings capturing every moment on video—from the ceremony through the reception—Brittany and Alex made their grand exit surrounded by friends and family. It was the perfect end to a perfect June evening.
