Family and friends gathered at The Sutherland, a beautifully restored 18th-century estate in Wake Forest, NC, to celebrate the marriage of Cathy and Tommy. The stunning gardens were the backdrop for their special day.
The couple, who originally met online, share a special connection: Both were born in the Year of the Dragon—a Chinese zodiac sign known for its boldness, passion, creativity, and good fortune.
Tommy and Cathy’s ceremony took place in the garden at the historic estate, surrounded by oaks, magnolias and pines.
After the ceremony, guests relaxed with cocktails and live music from Duo Licht, a violin-viola duo based in Winston-Salem.
Guests moved indoors for the reception. The couple made their grand entrance and shared their first dance to Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years.” Cathy and her father danced to Danny Chan’s classic ballad, “Remembering the Kindness of My Parents,” and Tommy and his mother danced to The Beatles’ “In My Life.”
After the traditional cake cutting, DJ Ben from K2 Weddings kept the dance floor full with a mix of the couple’s favorite hits and requests from the guests. When they weren’t dancing, guests created souvenir pictures in the photo booth, which was stocked with fun props and accessories.
As the evening came to a close, the couple and their guests gathered outside for the bouquet toss. Then, with warm wishes from their loved ones, Tommy and Cathy made their grand exit down the garden path, ready to begin their adventure together.
